Intel 865 Vga Drivers Download
Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.
Max Turbo Frequency refers to the maximum single-core processor frequency that can be achieved with Intel Turbo Boost Technology. See www.intel.com/technology/turboboost/ for more information and applicability of this technology.
Enough of the Kudos, I still personally believe that Microsoft has a long way to go before they ever get a clue... so, on to the topic at hand: Getting the Intel 865 video drivers to work on Windows Vista and Windows 7.
On first install of either OS, the standard VGA drivers provided by MS are used for display. While this might work fine in some situations, other issues are presented like video responsiveness, screen resolution etc. I decided to test out Windows 7 on an old HP 2.4GHz system I had lying around which has the Intel 865 onboard video. I recently ran into a similar issue on a clients computer where they had upgraded an (even older HP) from XP to Vista and they had the similar issue where the video drivers really needed to be updated to have a smooth experience. Since I can't remember exactly where I found the "fix", I regret to say that I cant give props to the person who figured this out... but, I do want to report that updating the Intel 865 video drivers on Windows 7 using the following method works like a charm!
1. Download the XP Professional version of the Intel 865 graphic driver. When I originally wrote this, Intel kept lots of drivers. 15 years later, those drivers are no longer on Intel's website so you'll have to get creative. You might see if you can find similar drivers from Dell, for example a quick search resulted in "Intel 865 v.6.14.10.4396, A09". (Do a google search for that) Point is, you'll have to dig to find a working driver, then follow the steps below.
Update: 2010/03/01 I am not 100% sure, but I believe that this workaround will also work for the Intel 845 video drivers as well. Just make sure to download the driver for the 845 instead of the 865 (they might actually be the same though...) Anyone who has been successful in getting this to work, feel free to post a comment and let us know :)
Using the latest Intel drivers (14.17) it worked fine until I launched the Windows Media Player to view a DVD. The large Media Player busy icon was displayed, the DVD hummed, and then instead of a movie I got a BSOD. I could find no workaround.
Being curious to see if it was computer specific or drivers specific on the BSOD Windows Media Player / DVD issue, I decided to check out the computer I have that has the Intel 865 drivers. I stuck a DVD in the drive, opened Windows Media Player and BAM! BSOD... I am pretty sure it is a driver issue not playing nicely with Windows 7 and beggars can't really be choosers in this situation...
SO, my workaround fix is to abandon Windows Media Player altogether for playing DVD's and instead install VLC media player which is an open source video player, supporting just about every major video codec known to the computer world. (Including DVD's) I have it on the same computer that gave me the BSOD and it played the exact same DVD without a problem. I realize it is nice to have everything playing nicely together but in a situation where you have an old computer with "hacked" if-you-will drivers, I wouldn't be too terribly choosy on making the thing work right, but rather just making it work.
I HAVE checked it out... I have successfully installed those drivers using the method suggested on two separate computers. When was the last time you checked it out? Just because Intel says they are "not supporting" something, doesn't mean that the driver won't physically work on the newer OS's. Do you not remember the Windows 2000 -> Windows XP days? Many manufacturers stated that the "windows 2000 drivers were not made for XP" and they were working on XP drivers, but in fact the windows 2000 drivers would work just fine. The reason manufacturers tell you that they aren't made, or not supported is because they don't want the liability on their hands of coding that might not work 100% on an OS that they aren't specifically coding for. (Not to mention the bombardment of support requests)... Stopping Support is completely different than the statement Will not work. It doesn't mean a driver won't work just because it isn't supported... It just means in this case that if the driver doesn't work, you can't go crying to Intel about it...

For most users, a manual installation process is required. This involves uninstalling the drivers provided by your PC manufacturer before installing the drivers provided here. Adobe strongly recommends that you back up your system first. You can find Intel's instructions on installing the drivers manually here.
A3: Intel will provide support for WDDM drivers beginning with the Intel 945 Express chipset family and beyond. See question 5 below for a detailed explanation of WDDM support on Intel 915 Express chipset-based platforms. However, Windows Vista is supported on the Intel 865G, 915G Express desktop chipsets and 852/855GM mobile chipsets running XPDM (XP Display Driver Model) driver included on the Windows Vista install media. Windows Vista will install on these platforms, but advanced features such as Windows Aero will not be enabled as XPDM drivers do not support Windows AERO."No Alex, I expect you have to use the Vista XPDM version of the drivers... or else you get errors, there are only XP drivers from Dell and I strongly recommend the Vista drivers instead...
Run this easy to use Intel Driver Update Utility and it will automatically tell you if you need to update your chipset INF file, and if so, will prompt you to install and you are done. This will save you a lot of time not only on your chipset download but the most common files needed for your system.Intel Chipset Device Software is the new name for the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility; this name will be seen when running the installation package. The Intel Chipset Device Software installs the Windows* INF files. An INF is a text file that provides the operating system with information about a piece of hardware on the system. In the case of the current Intel Chipset Device Software, that information is primarily the product name for the piece of hardware. This allows the operating system to show the correct name for that piece of hardware in Device Manager.
Thanks a lot! The "SOFT" vs "HARD" reboot, solved my problem too! Basically, I tried reinstalling drivers and whatnot but to no avail. However, I just did "Shut Down" instead of "Restart" and now the HDMI port is working again. My monitor is being detected!
BRUH been updating drivers automatically, manually, every freaking thing I found for more than 4 hours and the HARD reboot was the only thing I probably had to do. You saved me hours and hours of frustration. Thank you.
It can be issue with Display drivers as they are responsible to Multiscreen (Extended display) output from Windows I will suggest you uninstall Display drivers from vendor's website and download latest drivers and install it on your Surface device.
